Frequently Asked Questions —
Procurement or Supply Donations

Iíd like to start a collection of items to donate to Partners In Health. What do you need?

Partners In Health prefers to procure as many supplies as possible in-country in order to stimulate local economies and to standardize the supplies that we use. Additionally, shipping costs to our international sites are high, making local purchases more economical. If you would like to contribute financially to this effort, please visit donate.himsprescription.com/page/contribute/donate or mail your donation to Partners In Health, P.O. Box 845578, Boston, MA 02284-5578.

We do occasionally solicit donations of school supplies, sports equipment, personal care/hygiene items, and infant care products. If you would like to collect supplies to mail to Partners In Health, please see the list at act.himsprescription.com/donate-in-kind to determine what kinds of items are most needed and where the items should be sent. Shipping materials to our international sites is very expensive and we ask that as part of your collection drive you also raise awareness of the costs and raise money to offset the shipping.

Can I donate my used medical equipment to Partners In Health?

Partners In Health can accept donations of some medical equipment. In order to evaluate if your equipment can be used at our sites, our biotechnician requires the following pieces of information, in addition to any pictures of the unit and accessories that are available:

  1. What is the manufacture date of the machine? We usually cannot accept equipment that is over 20 years old.
  2. What is the manufacturer and model number?
  3. What is the use and service history of the machine? How frequently was it used, when was it last used, and has it been consistently maintained?
  4. Are replacement parts and any necessary consumables still available for purchase?
  5. [If x-ray machine: Is it a single phase or triple phase machine? We can only accept single phase machines.]
  6. What are the voltage requirements?
  7. What is the address where the equipment would need to be picked up?
  8. Are there accessories that you also wish to donate? If so, please list those along with the manufacturer year, make, and model.

Please note that Partners In Health cannot arrange to uninstall the equipment, so the uninstall must take place before the donation can be accepted. We ask that the donor cover the costs to uninstall the equipment. Usually the company who installed the machine is able to un-install it as well. Please fill out the form at act.himsprescription.com/donate-in-kind.
