About Non Communicable Diseases

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer and heart disease are too often presumed afflictions of the wealthy because they are associated with a sedentary lifestyle and alcohol or tobacco consumption. But NCDs lead to more deaths globally than all other causes combined – striking hardest among the poor. PIH recognizes that effective health care treats the whole person, not just one disease.
